Information for Incoming 9th Grade Students
Information for Students New or Returning to PAUSD
Welcome to the Gunn Course Selection Web Page!
Here you will find all of the information and resources you need to help you make course selections for the 2012-13 school year. This year's process and time line looks a little different than last year, so pay attention!
Here are some things that are different about this year:
- AP Course Selection. Check out the AP Course Info page to see which courses require an application, which require a teacher placement and which you may self-select for. Then follow the process as outlined. Applications are due to the Guidance Office March 5.
AP English Literature and Composition portfolios are due to the English Office on March 28.
- G Period Prep, G Period PE, Zero Period PE. Incoming 10-12th grade students wishing to have a G period PE, G period prep or zero period PE must complete an application, have it signed by the appropriate person. Students wishing to have a G period Prep or G period PE must have a valid reason. Reasons may include sports participation, or another committment outside of school (bring verification). Students wishing to be placed in zero period PE must complete the same application, but a signature is not necessary. Students placed in zero period PE will, when possible be given a G period prep. (click here for the Application for G Period Prep, G period PE or Zero Period PE.)
- Math and Science Course Placement. For incoming 10-12th grade students, your Math or Science teacher will be placing you in the appropriate course for next year. You should have a conversation with your teacher about the courses you wish to take.
- Course Selection Verification. Like last year, you will select your courses on-line during the week of March 12-19. Unlike last year, you do not need to print out a verification of course selection. During the week of April 9, we will give you a paper printout of the courses that you signed up for. You will sign and your parents will sign this form and turn it in to the Guidance Office.
Course Selection Worksheets
These forms include lists of required and elective courses available for students by grade. Counselors will hand out these worksheets to students when they meet with them in English Classes. Use these worksheet to guide your on-line course selection Process.
