FAQs

Q I forgot a class for which I meant to register. What should I do?
If you have already turned in your Registration Form, please contact the Gunn Guidance Department.
Phone: (650) 354-8212

Q I decided that I don’t want to take one of my classes after all. What should I do?
If you have already turned in your Registration Form, please contact the Gunn Guidance Department.
Phone: (650) 354-8212

Q What is Reverse Verification?
A copy of the classes a student has signed up for. Students need to verify the accuracy of the Reverse Verification sheet that they will receive in March.  If students wish to make a change to their course selection, they should indicate this on their Reverse Verification Sheet.

Q How do I know which courses I need to graduate?
Please refer to the 2013-2014 Gunn Course Catalog for information regarding graduation requirements.

Q I would like to take one of my classes during zero period next year.  How can sign up for a zero period class?
When course selection verification forms are handed back to students (late March) there will be a box to check where you can indicate that you are willing to take one of your courses during zero period.  There will only be a few sections offered during zero period next school year.

Q I signed up for a zero period PE.  Does this mean I can take 8 classes?
No. You are still limited to a maximum of 7 classes. If you are scheduled for a zero period course, you will have a prep period at some point throughout the day. We will try to schedule your prep to be a G period prep although it is not always possible.

Q I can't sign up for the Math course that I want!  It does not show up when I search for it!
Math courses are by teacher placement only. You should ask your current math teacher to place you in the appropriate math course. This course will show up on your "Required" list of courses. Math electives including Advanced Problem Solving I and 2 are available for students to choose on their own.

Q There is a course on my "Required" list that I don't want or need to take.  How can I get rid of it?
If it is a science course, see your current science teacher. If it is a math course, see your current math teacher. For any other courses you will need to speak with a counselor. If appropriate, a counselor can make adjustments to the course requests that you need.
