Julie Lythcott-Haims – Gunn parent, former Stanford dean, and author of the New York Times bestseller How to Raise an Adult – will be back on campus on April 28 to reprise her popular 2015 TEDxGunnHighSchool talk “Throw Out the Checklisted Childhood.”

Lythcott-Haims is a fierce critic of “helicopter parenting” and has spoken to parents nationwide about how overprotection, over-direction, or excessive hand-holding can achieve short term “wins” for kids but ultimately harms them. In her high school assemblies, she brings a compassionate approach to the stress and strain many kids experience today, and offers a different kind of checklist for achieving a meaningful and rewarding life.

The STUDENT presentation will take place in Spangenberg Theatre from 2:50 - 3:30 pm, April 28th.
