I. CENTRAL BUILDING PROJECT, SCHEMATIC DESIGN

  • Two music classrooms (for choir and band/orchestra) will be attached to the Quad-side of Spangenberg lobby, and a separate ticket office will be built closer to the parking lot.
  • In the two-story building across the Quad from Spangenberg, the first floor will contain the SAC, two flexible classrooms, two offices, a copy center, and storage space.
  • The second floor will contain the College & Career Center, a wellness center, three Social Studies classrooms, offices, presentation space and a conference room.
  • Lori Larson and Tom Hodges met with Gunn representatives from the Music Department, Oracle newspaper, and Yearbook to discuss space allocation.

II. VILLAGE PORTABLES & CLASSROOM REARRANGEMENT

  • Ideally all Social Studies classes will be grouped near each other (in C and E buildings), eliminating the need for Village classrooms.
  • Focus on Success and Opportunities classes will relocate to K1 and K2 respectively.
  • The Social Studies/Science offices will remain in the K building.
  • One F-building classroom will become available for Social Studies when the new SpEd classrooms are completed in the K building.

III. E & K BUILDINGS

  • The E building (formerly L31) will contain two regular-sized (960-square-feet) classrooms and the new Gunn Tech office.
  • Technology offices will move from the library to the E building to be more centralized.
  • Shades for privacy are needed in all K-building Special Ed. classrooms.

IV. MIRANDA AVE. DROP-OFF

  • The backroad parallel to Miranda Ave. is currently under construction and should be ready by June.
  •  Paving will be installed over Spring Break.
  • Staff parking spaces may be available in May, though the turnaround area will take longer.
  • City permits for traffic signals are still in process.
  • The Gunn organic garden will return to the back-road dropoff area when construction is completed.

V. REIMBURSEMENT FOR MOVING TIME & FUTURE DATES

  • Teachers will most likely be paid for up to 14 hours of moving time.
  • E and K buildings should be remodeled by August 8, 2014.
  • The next Facilities Committee Meeting is May 14, 1pm in the Staff Lounge.
