The Annual Gunn Sports Boosters Fundraising Event, held Dec. 2 at Trader Vic’s, raised $27,000. The event included a buffet, silent auction and live entertainment. Among the 175 attendees were parents, coaches, Athletic Director Chris Horpel and Superintendent Kevin Skelly.
“I was very pleased that the evening brought so many parents together who enjoyed meeting one another, socializing and talking about ways they could help the athletic facilities in the future,” Sports Boosters President Bob Cranmer-Brown said. “It was a fun way to support a very worthwhile cause and we have already booked Trader Vic’s on December 5th for next year.”
Parent Teacher Student Association executive board member Peggy Esber said she thought it was the best Sports Boosters event ever. “Great location, wonderful music, good food and lots of interesting folks,” she said.
Parent Cindy Ziebelman, an attendee, agreed. “I heard lots of praise for the night and how nice it was to be mingling and socializing rather than having a sit down dinner,” she said.
The money raised will go to the general Sports Boosters fund, Athletics Director Chris Horpel said. Sports Boosters members will then vote on which projects the funds will go towards. According to Cranmer-Brown, the funds will most likely go to the baseball and softball dugouts, loans for the field lights or a practice lacrosse wall. The organization is open to requests from coaches.
Upcoming Sports Booster events include the Juana Run in February and Clash of the Titans in May.
Donations to the Sports Boosters fund may be sent to the Sports Boosters treasurer, Nancy Hughes, at 27035 Old Trace Lane, Los Altos Hills, 94022.
