On Friday, Nov. 2nd, the Parent-Teacher-Student Association (PTSA) hosted the 2007-2008 Reflections Award Ceremony at lunch in the library. The ceremony lasted approximately 15 minutes, and the theme this year was “I can make a difference by…”
All participants were notified through call slips. During the ceremony, Michelle Rosengaus, the Parent Teacher Student Association correspondent in charge of the reflections program, talked about the pieces in general before announcing the winners.
Out of the 14 pieces submitted, 10 entries were selected as winners. Categories included visual arts, photography, literature, and dance choreography. The winning students were freshman Reade Levinson, sophomores Tiffany Chen, Aubrie Lee and Anjali Sharma, juniors Phillip Cheng, Anastasia Ionkin and Ellen Su, and senior Leah Rosengaus.
“I was really excited when I won,” junior visual arts winner Ellen Su said. “There were a lot of excellent painting and drawings submitted in the visual arts category.”
The eight students who won awards each received $30.00 gift certificates to the Student Activity Center. Their pieces will then move on to compete with Palo Alto High School at the district level. Those who qualify will move on to the county, state or national level.
