Boosters annual dinner

The Sports Boosters will be holding their annual dinner at the Fremont Hills Country Club on Nov. 20 at 5:30 p.m. Organizers hope to raise funds for Sports Boosters projects as well as generate interest and support for Gunn athletics.

The dinner will be catered by Chef Chu’s and will feature both student speakers and cheerleaders. Athletic Director Matt McGinn says that the dinner is more than a fundraiser. “Although it is a fundraiser, it is not the focus,” he said. “We want to raise general support and build the spirit of the community.”

Tickets are $100 for one adult and $50 for a second. Students’ and coaches’ tickets are $20. Checks can be made out to “Gunn Sports Boosters” and sent to:

New glass backboards

A private donation and $4,000 from the Sports Boosters has helped install eight glass backboards in the gym.

Prior to the addition, the gym had two glass backboards. The other backboards were solid.

“The reasoning for doing this was to be able to split practices, so we can have two games at a time,” Athletic Director Matt McGinn said.

Seven of the backboards were installed in mid-October. The last one was installed on Oct. 31.
