A total of 78 clubs took sign-ups at Club Day Sept. 19 on the quad at lunch. Students signed up for clubs while jamming to music–a new addition to club sign-ups this year. "The music definitely relaxed the atmosphere," senior Student Body Vice President Maya Bruhis said.
A wide variety of clubs, both old and new, sponsored tables at the event. Each club tried to interest people in joining–some with bribes of candy, others with vocal persuasion.
This year's club guidelines stress the necessity and role of the club advisor. The policy isn't a new one. "It has always been in the guidelines," junior Diversity Commissioner Nidia Morales said. "It just hasn't been strictly emphasized."
Student Activities Director Lisa Hall believes Club Day promotes student participation on campus. "It allows students to be involved and no skills are needed– just interest," Hall said. "Everyone should join a club that they like."
Bruhis agrees with Hall. "It's a great way to find other people who like doing what you do," Bruhis said. "I hope that a lot of people took advantage of this opportunity to meet new people."
