Hit the Road Centerfold: Dance invitations highlighted
Published on September 22, 2008 in Volume 45, Issue 1

Besides asking a girl on stage during the opening assembly, there are many cute ways guys have popped the all-famous, “Will you go to Homecoming with me?” The Oracle notes a few.

  • Andrew asked Alice by making a path of rose petals leading out of her house and to him holding a poster that read “Will you go to Homecoming with me?”
  • After a football game, Brian drove to Beatrice’s house while she walked home with her friends. When she got there “Will you go to Homecoming with me?” was spelled out in candles and there was a bouquet of flowers in the crook of the question mark.
  • Clark sent Clara to the chemistry room to study the elements. When she got there he was standing next to a bowl of water with rubber ducks lined up in it. Each duck had two letters on it and together they spelled “Will you go to Homecoming with me?”
  • Dean rewrote the lyrics to a well-known song so that a part about Diana was in it. In choir, teacher Bill Liberatore introduced it as an audition piece Dean was practicing for colleges. He sang the song to the whole class and then gave her flowers.
  • Eric made a YouTube video of his guy friends doing bike jumps. As each guy made a jump, he shouted out a single word. Together the words spelled out: “Will you go to Homecoming with me?” Eric made the last jump and said “me.”
  • Frederick made two targets on the quad, one reading “yes” and the other “no”. He asked Fiona if she would go with him and gave her roses. He then told her that the bouquet would be her arrow, and she had to “shoot” it at her answer.
  • Greg made cards that each had a word that spelled “Will you go to Homecoming with me?” Each card was held by a different person and each person got into a different car. They all drove by and Genevieve read the question as they passed. Greg had the “Me” card.
  • Hunter had his friend Holden come up to him and Hannah while they were hanging out at lunch. Holden asked if he could take a picture of them. When Holden showed the picture to them, there was a banner in the background with “Will you go to Homecoming with me?” written on it. Hannah saw the banner and said yes.
  • Isaac wrote each word of “Will you go to Homecoming with me?” on a separate note. He put each note in a balloon and asked Isabella’s friends to give them to her throughout the day. Isabella had to pop each balloon and Isaac waited for her by a tree with the last balloon.
  • Jessica went to school and got called by Jason. He told her how many steps to take in which directions and while she couldn’t see him, he could see her. He led her to a spot where he waited to ask her.
  • Kyle made a scavenger hunt for Katie around her neighborhood. She found little rhymes with clues on them that lead her to the next rhyme which eventually ended up in front of a box. Kyle’s friend Kevin popped out of the box with a poster that had “Will you go to Homecoming with me?” written on it. Kyle was behind Katie with roses, and he tapped on her shoulder. When she turned around, he asked her.
  • Luke dropped off yellow roses, a fudge cake shaped like a heart and a card that read “Will you go to Homecoming with me?” at Layla’s house.
