XKCDFor a web comic that describes itself as one of “romance, sarcasm, math and language,” xkcd is surprisingly accessible. It’s no Calvin & Hobbes, but hey—we all need a little nerdy humor in our lives. The art (or stick-figure art, rather) is simplistic and easy on the eye. Although some references are obscure, the dry wit and general silliness of the comic keep a wide range of people coming back for more.
Songs To Wear Pants Tohttp://www.songstowearpantsto.com
It’s a fairly simple concept: you submit a description of a song you’d like to hear, and a guy named Andrew will compose it for between $50 and $200 a minute. But there’s a catch—if your idea is wacky enough, he might just make the song for free. An example: a song about “a man ordering a burrito and being extremely intimidated by the size of it.” The genre? Celtic techno. You can find others’ songs posted on the web site; if they don’t spice up your play list, nothing will.
YouTube: ACDC Cru vs M&M CruUser jonmchu on http://www.youtube.com
This prolific YouTube dance battle will give viewers surprising new reasons to respect Miley Cyrus. It all started when Jon Chu and Adam Sevani of “Step Up 2: The Streets” fame decided to challenge the Hannah Montana star, along with her dancer friend Mandy Jiroux, to what they promised would be the greatest battle ever. Sounds lame? You’ll be pleasantly surprised: the series of videos features various respected break dancers, snazzy production (see: a helicopter), the most random celebrities you can think of and a heavy dose of humor.
