[Sports] The class of 2009 has led the Titans to many athletic achievements over the last four years. Girls' basketball, led by senior Jasmine Evans, recently broke the school record for number of wins in a season and is currently 29-1 (and counting). Senior Martin Trainer is one of the country's top amateur golfers and senior Kelsey Pedersen races past her competition in crew. These three athletes, along with a few others in their class, have the athletic prowess to play competitively in college next year. These seniors are considered elite athletes of their sport and have promised both their academic and athletic abilities to their future colleges. —Mari Ju

[Sports] On Dec. 8, the boys’ varsity soccer team suited up in the cold air to face-off against opponent Santa Teresa High School of San Jose. The Santa Teresa Saints started playing aggressively, and the Titans never managed to catch up, dropping the match 0-1.—Mari Ju
[Features] Every year the Youth Community Service/Interact (YCS) club sponsors a trip of 20 students to Tijuana, Mexico, over winter break. This year, the trip is led by seniors Hallie Douglas, Sasha Guttentag and Ari Parikh. The group will leave on Dec. 17 and return on Dec. 22. While in Tijuana, the students will build a house using concrete and other materials. “I’m really excited for this year’s trip—I think we’ll do a lot of hard work and really make a difference while having fun,” Guttentag said. —Mari Ju

[Sports] At the Palo Alto (Paly) – Gunn basketball game on January 26 the Gunn Sixth Man Club displayed a sign arguing that Gunn was greater than Paly according to a US News’ academic poll. This sign was one example that contributed to the common myth that Gunn has poor sports teams. As an athlete and a devoted Titan fan, I am sick of hearing “how bad our sports are,” and especially that they are worse than Paly’s. In reality, Gunn has an outstanding sports program and it is time to put those negative rumors to rest once and for all.—Mari Ju
