An Excellent Choice Community Colleges are excellent choices for many post-high school students who seek to earn an Associates degree, enter a certificate program, or transfer to a 4-year university (most of the time without the hassle of taking the S.A.T., getting teacher recommendations or an extremely high GPA). Many community colleges, especially those in the Bay Area, offer Automatic Transfer Admission Guarantee Agreements (TAG), where students who maintain a minimum GPA and successfully complete a specific coursework are automatically accepted to colleges as juniors, such as Santa Clara University, UC schools and CSU schools.

Many college students find community college classes to be the best choice is they are working or prefer to do courses online. Foothill College, for instance, has dozens and dozens of courses available online every quarter, and you can earn Associates Degrees in eleven areas entirely online, including Anthropology, Economics, Geography, History, Psychology and Sociology. Courses taken online at Foothill College have the same academic standing as their on-campus counterparts.
