Frequently Asked Questions about the College Fair

updated 10-28-09

1. Why are the UC and State Schools not represented at this college fair?

This fair gives an opportunity for many of the smaller private colleges to come and share info about their schools. If the UCs and CSUs were here, people would flock to these tables. If you are interested, you can go to the UC or State websites to find out about other local college fairs where they may be represented.

2. Do you have any financial aid forms?

Paper FAFSAs will not be available for schools. Any student who wishes to have a 2009 year paper FAFSA will have to individually request the form from the Federal Student Aid information Center at (800) 433-3243 or download the new PDF version of the form from various Federal Student Aid web sites, such as www.FederalStudentAid.ed.gov or www.fafsa.ed.gov.

3. How can I find out about scholarships?

Visit Family Connection. Every student and parent has access to this huge database of information. If you need help logging in or don't have your password, see Mr Lang in the CCC.

4. How can I find out more about the application process?

Pick up a copy of "Getting Ready for Life After High School, Career and College Planning Guide for California Students and Their Families 2008-2009" at the College & Career Center, Henry Gunn High School. It is loaded with information about applying to colleges. You may also access Family Connection, a tool that allows you to navigate all the colleges in the U.S. and see how you compare to them. To access Family Connection, please see Leighton Lang in the CCC or your guidance counselor for ID/password.

5. Where is the Financial Aid Workshop?

The Financial Aid Workshop will be held in the Dance Studio at 7:30pm. The presenter is Josephine Christensen, Financial Aid Outreach Assistant at Foothill College.
