The information presented here is accurate as of Spring 2023. Before submitting your off-campus course request, please verify that institutions still have the necessary accreditation and that courses are still UC approved by visiting the links below before enrolling in a course.

  • Courses must be University of California approved (UC approved)
  • The Institution offering the course must be WASC or regionally accredited and offers coursework leading to a high school diploma.
  • Courses taken through institutions that are WASC accredited as "Supplementary Ed" will not be accepted for credit. Examples:
    • Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth and Language Bird fall into this category and are not acceptable.
    • Art of Problem Solving is not UC Approved
  • The Institution used must be able to issue an official transcript with a letter grade and credits listed.
List of Institutions

Please note this list of outside institutions is NOT a complete list, nor do we endorse any particular institution. The following is a list of the most commonly requested institutions by PAUSD families over the past few years. If you do not find your preferred institution on this list, it does not necessarily mean it is not approved. You may do your own research by following the criteria listed above and following up with your high school counselor.

  • California Community Colleges - All California Community Colleges meet the necessary accreditation requirements. Community colleges requested from PAUSD families in the past have included: Canada, College of San Mateo, DeAnza, Foothill, Laney College, Mission, San Francisco Community College, San Mateo College, Skyline.

The course and/or community college you choose for PAUSD may not be accepted by private colleges and universities or out-of-state institutions. It is your responsibility to check with an admissions officer from each campus to which you intend to apply to ensure the course will be transferable or accepted.
