September 24th is National Voter Registration Day.  Observed since 2012, this national holiday celebrates our democracy and seeks to create a greater awareness of voter registration opportunities.  In connection with National Voter Registration Day, the League of Women Voters will be visiting Gunn and Paly on September 24th.  Any student who wishes to register or pre-register to vote will have the voluntary opportunity to do so and should bring either their driver’s license number or the last four digits of their social security numbers.  Tables will be set up outside of the N Building and the Main Quad during lunchtime.  16 and 17 year-olds may pre-register to vote and 18 year-olds may register.

The League of Women Voters was formed 100 years ago to encourage citizens to become informed about, and actively participate in, our democratic form of government. As one of America’s oldest and largest voting rights organizations, the League has gained a reputation for its nonpartisan stance: The League neither supports nor opposes candidates or parties. The mission of the Voter Services arm of the League is to spread and defend democracy through voter registration and voter education.
