Carlos Martinez

Carlos started teaching at Gunn in Fall 2016 after moving to Palo Alto from the city of Santa Ana in Orange County, southern California. In Santa Ana, Carlos taught Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 Honors, & assistant coached Swimming for two seasons at Segerstrom High School. Carlos has two Bachelor’s degrees in Economics and International Studies from the University of California, Irvine (UCI), and completed his credential program at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB). What drew Carlos to Gunn was how much the Titan community values the well-being of the whole student, including emotional well-being. When Carlos is not in the classroom, you can usually spot him practicing yoga/ acro-yoga, swimming laps, rock climbing, and watching his students compete at Gunn sporting events. Carlos looks forward to possibly coaching swim and assisting the yoga program offered to students and staff at Gunn.
